Ingredients
  

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons colorful sprinkles optional
  • Buttercream frosting for decorating optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  8. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared cake pan.
  9. Bake for 22–25 minutes until the edges are golden and the center is just set.
  10. Cool completely in the pan.
  11. Decorate with buttercream frosting and sprinkles if desired.
  12. Slice and serve.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the dough for a tender cookie cake.
  • Slightly underbake for a softer, chewier texture.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting.
  • Use mini chocolate chips for more even chocolate distribution.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  • Freeze unfrosted slices for up to 2 months.
