French Toast Deligh

French Toast Delight is a classic breakfast favorite featuring thick slices of bread soaked in a rich cinnamon-vanilla egg mixture and pan-fried until perfectly golden. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, it's delicious served with maple syrup, fresh berries, powdered sugar, or whipped cream. Ingredients
  

  • 8 thick slices of bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Powdered sugar for garnish
  • Fresh berries for serving (optional

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  3. Melt a small amount of butter in the skillet.
  4. Dip each bread slice into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly.
  5. Let excess mixture drip off before placing the bread on the skillet.
  6. Cook each slice for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  7. Add more butter as needed while cooking the remaining slices.
  8. Transfer cooked French toast to serving plates.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
  10. Serve warm with maple syrup and fresh berries.

Notes

  • Thick-cut brioche or challah bread gives the best texture.
  • Slightly stale bread absorbs the custard without becoming soggy.
  • Do not soak the bread for too long or it may fall apart.
  • Keep cooked slices warm in a 200°F (95°C) oven while finishing the batch.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor.
  • Fresh fruit, whipped cream, or toasted nuts make excellent toppings.
