Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 2 tablespoons seasoned rice vinegar
  • 4 nori sheets
  • 8 tempura shrimp cooked
  • 1 cucumber julienned
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • 1 carrot julienned
  • 2 tablespoons Japanese mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha optional
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • Soy sauce for serving
  • Pickled ginger for serving
  • Wasabi for serving

Method
 

  1. Season the cooked sushi rice with rice vinegar and let it cool.
  2. Place a sheet of nori shiny-side down on a bamboo sushi mat.
  3. Spread an even layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.
  4. Arrange tempura shrimp, cucumber, avocado, and carrot across the center.
  5. Drizzle with Japanese mayonnaise and sriracha if using.
  6. Roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat.
  7. Seal the edge with a little water.
  8. Slice each roll into 8 equal pieces using a sharp wet knife.
  9. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  10. Serve immediately with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi.

Notes

  • Wet your hands before handling sushi rice to prevent sticking.
  • Use freshly cooked tempura shrimp for the crispiest texture.
  • Wipe the knife clean between slices for neat pieces.
  • Don't overfill the rolls to make rolling easier.
  • Enjoy immediately for the best flavor and crunch.
  • Refrigerate leftovers for up to 1 day.
